Quick question, I have 95 EB 351w Bronco and had a Trailmaster 4" installed
The problem is the ride is TO stiff, my wife say's it's like a buck board on the bumpy asphalt roads around here, I agree but love the way it corners in the mountains at speed.
What should I do to get a little of that cadilac ride back?
Change out the Springs?, I still have the originals
Sounds like you need to go with a different set of shocks. Just to keep everyone happy, get adjustables that way your wife can have the smooth ride and when you want to play, crank em up for the stiffer ride. (Hmmmmm sounds like a dirty joke in there somewhere!)
did you have those tires before the lift?i put those tires on my 96 and it rides harder.my 87 has a 6 inch lift with the SSV shocks and it rides soft with 35 inch goodyears
Yes, I did have these before the lift, so I don't think it's the tires.
Plus I have a set of 33x9.5 for winter hunting that or on it in my gallery and it's just as harsh a ride.
I was asking because the springs look so beefier then the originals that I still have.
But looking for more opinions......
how long have you had this lift. the springs may still not be fully broken in yet. also dropping your tire pressure to say 30lbs might help to. just have to rotate them a bit more often is all.
Put the lift on in 2000, but only put on 20k miles sense the lift.
Isn't that enough break in?
Just would like to know if the stiff ride is from the SSV shocks OR the springs?
Don't really want to lower tire pressure, I think that would be detremental to the cornering and wear.
the springs are gonna have a major affect in the ride. the shocks help dampen this. has the driving been farely mellow or have you wheeled it since the lift. a good thrashin so to speak may be in order hehe
I have not wheeled it, just hiway and gravel roads when hunting.
The problem is I LOVE my bronco to much and don't even like sierra pin strips.
When I bought it I had been looking for 4 years when, I found it on the net I dorve to it and bought it that day. I plan on keeping and handing it down to my 2yr old when he gets old enough. Baby it so much I only have 67k on it
Check my Gallery.
It's just a hunch, but did they use poly bushings for the replacements? I installed the poly bushings on my radius arms, and 6 months later they literally punched a hole through the radius arm bracket. And the ride became harder!! I went back to factory rubber bushings. Everybody is saying the poly bushings are stiffer, which gives better handling characteristics, but reduces shock and vibration capability, and reduces comfort in ride.
