20ft trailer with 6-pin, we use a 6-pin to 7-pin adaptor when hooked-up to 03 F-350.
We have brake lights, blinkers, but no marker and tail lights.
Checked the wiring harness on the truck, it has power to all pins, checked adaptor, it has power to all pins.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.
There are two standards for 6-pin trailer connectors and most adapters allow you to change wiring internal to the adapter.
If you have the correct outputs from the truck's 7-pin connector, you just need to get that 6 to 7 adapter wired right. I spent some quality time with a voltmeter and figured out the adapter's wiring. Your truck's -pin connector has the electric brakes on pin 3 (5:00 position). The adapter probably routes this signal to the center of the 6-pin connector and the battery charge connection to the 3:00 pin on the 6-pin connector. Your trailer's wiring may require these to be reversed.
If your adapter is a Hoppy, their website (www.trailerwiring.com) is a good place to start.
