CSI has a part number for the FE water pump in clear, blue, or red. All I did was bolt it on. I don't have the part number handy, but it is pretty easy to find.

Aha! I see.... I assume its .020" compressed then. Anyone see a problem with running a copper gasket? If they are rated at .041" in summit do they compress smaller or are they listed at compressed height?

The number is 8554 PT, or 12057, depending on where you look on the packaging.

There's nothing at all wrong with the Fel-Pro permatorque head gaskets.

I measured mine with a micrometer, they're .020" uncompressed out of the package. Compressed I dont know, I dont imagine they'd grow though.

Rich, .041 would be for felpro blue, there .041 compressed, but I have heard the permatorque's are a good gasket?

Well I think the copper gaskets now are much better than they were when I tried to use them back in the late 70s on a Big Block Chebby I built..I couldnt get the darn things to seal for anything..I think they make um out of softer cooper now!

Yea i think that would help......lol I would guess you would need a nice strait surface. But the discription says "Seals great to rough surfaces!" YEA RIGHT!
If you get them to seal i would guess they resist blow outs but I'm not going to run them until i hear some success stories.

Ya I think I would talk to some of the guys in the forums that may have or have not run them? Like I said, in the 70s when I was hot and heavy into drag racing alot of guys tried them..and they didnt seal, and some guys ran them with good luck..

But I do know the compound of the sopper has changed since then?

Can you think of any reason I would need to run them....as opposed to the perma torques?
