I'm going to approach the power vs. emissions debate from the other side of things. I live in Maryland and have to pass emissions (treadmill test, no underhood inspection). I'd like to hear if anyone who has done the "traditional" engine mods still passes emissions (any state) somewhat easily?
By "traditional", I mean: 2 or 4 barrel carb on Clifford/Offy intake ("C" intake for 2 barrel, "DP" for 4 barrel), EFI exhaust manifolds into high-flo cats, 2.5" single exhaust (so it looks somewhat close to stock), ignition upgrade... I'm planning on doing some combo of these things, but probably not a cam or valve upgrade. I've read Ford_SIX's intake/exhaust combo and that seems right "inline" (no pun intended) with what I'm thinking, but I don't know the emissions results of these changes. To me, if the thing still runs well and is burning fuel properly, it should pass, but I'm no smog-****....
Thanks! This forum is great---many thanks to others who've helped me in the past!
