I left my 01 F250 parked for about 5 days and went to start it yesterday, it cranks but would not start. It has 112,000 miles, bone stock. Just looking for some ideas on what to look for. I am knowledgeable about gas engines but not so with diesels. My guess would be a fuel delivery problem. I did not get a chance to look at it very much yesterday and won't until tommorow but hoped for some direction.
Thanks for any help.

Indy, the first thing that comes to mind is the cam position sensor. Does the tach move when turning it over? If not probably the sensor. Does it turn fast enough? If not could be batteries. Check the oil level in the HPOP, sometimes it can drain down. No oil in it = no start. Can you get the codes read? That might help. There are probably some more that will give some possibilities.
Thanks "stroker", I didn't notice if the tach was moving or not, will look tommorow. What is the HPOP? Also the batteries may be weak, they cranked it for 30 or 40 seconds (in 5 to 10 second shots) then started slowing down. I wasn't sure how long the battery should hold up since the truck has always started easy. I have no way to read the codes.
HPOP = High Pressure Oil Pump. This is the pump that produces the high pressure to open your injectors. It is located on the front center of the engine, either under the plastic cover with "powerstroke" on it or right in front of it, 2 nuts holding it. There is an allen screw in top of the reservoir, take it out and check the level in it. It needs to be near full. If it is empty just fill it up to within an inch or so of the top. Also you might want to get those batteries checked out, at least charge them up and try it again.
Well it looks like it was the easy problem, I checked the Tach and the HPOP oil level. They were good, Put jumper cables on it and it started right up. Thanks for the help and direction.
