clogged cat
hello my wifes dad has a 93 e250 with a 351. if you hold the gas to the ground it will cut out bad and start backfiring. i walked in front of the exhaust pipe and the gases burned my leg hairs. then i looked at the cat and the whole pipe and part of the cat were glowing red. i was pretty sure that that was bad. so the bad cat would be the one that is after the glowing pipe right.

i believe it has one where the 2 pipes come together and then the big one after that. but they don't unbolt at the cats. only at the manifolds. he is only going to take the pipe after the cats down and then punch out the second one since money around here is limited. he will be getting a replacement soon.

no we found it out and it is the other way around. it is not getting enough fuel so it is lean. we got the cat replaced and it still does it, but it does sound better. we tested the fuel and it stays over 40 psi at idle but when revved it drops far below 30. so the fuel pump is bad and we have been looking for one for the past 12 hours
