I have a 88 Ranger 4 cylinder 2.3 fuel injection. When the truck is cranked for a couple of minutes the fuel pump stays on and the spark plug cylinders overload with gas If I take the spark plugs out and turn the motor over gas shoots out about 4 fdeet in the air I have tried everything anyone got any suggestions???
Do all the cylinders fill with gas or just one? Sounds like a bad injector, is this multi-port injected (one per cylinder) or throttlebody injected (one or two injectors for entire engine)?
Trust me I've seen fire my hubbies friend was helping with the truck and had a spark plug in well put it this way we had to call the fire department. Oh and I live in a wooden house and gas had already shot all over it out of the cylinders. LOL
I agree. even with the pump running all of the time, the fuel should just run thru the regulator and back to the tank. If the cylinders are filling with fuel, you more than likely need to replace the injectors. They have gotten dirt or something in them and they are not shutting off. They should only pass fuel thru them when the get the pulse from the ecm.
