I really want to put a leveling kit on my Fx4. Which kit do you all think is the best and what am I looking at spending including installation? I usually do all my own work on my vehicles so is installing myself an option? Are there any special tools I would need? Also what is the max size tires I could put on without worrying about rubbing with a leveling kit on my stock 18 inch wheels? Thanks everyone.
I put the Autospring.com 1.5 inch kit on my FX4. It actually lifts the nose almost 3 inches, so the rear is only a quarter inch higher. It was really easy to install myself. In fact, there's another thread here somewhere where I detailed the process. The kit was $125, shipping included. I think you can put 325/75s on with the leving kit, but I'm not going that big (that's about a 34.5 inch tire). BFG has two new 18 sizes coming out in a month or two, according to LesSchwab, so I'm waiting to see if one of them is a 33 (285/75). Y
ou can see my leving kit installed in my gallery.
Mountanir15, have you experianced any "noise" by having the autospring kit? I've read that this kit causes an excessive CV joint angle blahh blahh blahh. I'm sure you've read the same posts I"m talking about, so have you heard all this "noise" when you're turning or driving down the road?
I've read all the posts and I haven't heard anything that sounds like what they are talking about. I've gone over dirt roads with bumps big enough to get the fron tires off the ground, and I didn't hear a thing when it came down.
So the kit should be fine for me. My truck will stay on the black top 99% of the time, I'm just looking for an easy way to level out the front end. I was considering mounting 325/60r18's on the stock wheels, but I may wait like you're talking about for a new release from BFG. Thanks for the input!
mountainar15 who is LesSchwab? I'm going crazy trying to find a bigger size tire to fit on my stock 18's. The news about BFG coming out with bigger sizes for the 18's is music to my ears. Is there anything on their website about that?
Hi JB04
I have a supercrew lariat and I levelled mine very easily and inexpensively. I lowered the rear by removing the spacers under the leaves. This netted a two inch drop.
I run a 20 inch panther rim with a 305/55/20 toyo A/T tire.
This setup looks and drives great.
Hope this helps
I want the BFG A/T KOs, but in something bigger than the 285/65/18, but not as big as a 325 or 315. So I'm hoping that they're coming out with a 285/70 or 75 or a 305 or something.
Theodore, did you run into any problems with removing the spacers ? I tried to take mine out but they had locater buttons on the top and bottom and I could not slide it out ( not enough jack for the job ) anyway looked like two buttons on top and one on bottom ? any-body???????????????
I installed the 2" autospring leveling kit in my FX4 supercab 4X4. very nice kit but lifted 3 1/4 inches. Very sharp angles on the c.v. joints and Tie rod ends. This caused the front to be slightly higher than the back. I ordered the 1 1/2" inch kit and I am going to install that instead. I also installed this 2" kit in a XLT supercab 4X4. It only lifted this truck 2". So be carefull FX4 owners.
