Got the FPR all put in tonight. The allen wrench made it much easier. Now the fuel pressure is down to 35 when idle and jumps to about 40 when I hit the gas which sounds about normal. I still am seeing black smoke when I hit the gas. Does that just take time to clear up or could something else be causing it? I will see tomorrow when I drive to work if the check engine light still comes on or not. Thanks for your help.
I have only listened to it run for a bit, but it sounds good so far. It has always ran pretty well except for the black smoke and smelling like gas recently.
yes it should stop, might check a plug or two to see how things are burning. if they look real dark might change them out for new ones. you might also change out your o2 sensor as well because im sure it probably looks like whats coming out of your tailpipe.
After driving around all morning things seem to be good. Fuel pressure is where it should be. Black smoke seems to be gone so far. The CEL flashed on once, but didn't stay on so I am going to pull the codes tonight and see what it is complaining about now.
Checked the codes today and it is still throwing a 173:HEGO (HO2S) Sensor Fault/Rich KOER code. I'm sure the O2 sensor is covered in gunk from running so rich so could that be causing the problem or would that be a different code? I have heard it could also be the MAP sensor. What would be the easiest way to diagnose this? Thanks.
After replacing the O2 sensor, the 173 code is gone. Now the only code I'm throwing is a KOER 311:Thermactor Air System/fault during engine run self-test. Is that somehow related or is that something different entirely? Thanks.
