390 plug gap

390 plug gap

I read in one post that the proper gap is .017 This seems a tad small. Is this the correct gap.

.017" for a set of points..not for a spark plug...In my stock 390 I run them at .035"

I second the .035". Any more with a stock coil and your mileage and performance will go down. Even with a performance coil, I'm sceptical about going over .040".

Plug Gaps

Folks Thanks for the info. I'm readin 2 different gaps .035 and .045. I'm running all stock components w/ points. I adjusted them last night from .045 to .035 which seems to have made a slight difference in the cold starting (easier). I'll let you know if it makes a difference in the mileage.
