I am fairly new to the Ford scene, but like what I have read about some of the older trucks. I have an opportunity to buy a 1982 Ford F 250 with 86,000 original miles. I know this is correct as it belongs to my Grandfather. He bought it new. It has the 4.9 inline 6 and the heavy 4 spd. manual transmission. The body is fairly rough and the interior is even worse.(terrible) It runs well as I drove it for approx. 20 miles today. I did notice a decent amount of lifter clatter. It has 16.5 inch wheels. I am not the most mechanically gifted person in the world, but would like to give it a try. He has recently replaced a head gasket, oil pump, clutch, rod and main bearings. It wasn't showing oil pressure, but after replacing the oil sending unit, it read well up into the normal range. I can get the truck for $750.00. I need some input whether the truck would be worth it or am I biting off more than I can chew? Thanks for the input.
since it is your granddads truck i would say yes it is worth it.
if it was not your granddads truck i would say no it is not worth it.
interior parts are not hard to find for these trucks, body parts are a little harder to find, but are out there.
Hi dow,welcome to FTE
I would say any truck that starts, runs, and stops safely is worth $750 but, this one even more so because you know the history of the truck as far as maint, repairs, replaced parts etc.
