1996 Explorer info needed
The wife says her ride has come into some noise from the front end.I send her down to my mechanic for a quick look see.My mechanic says he thinks its the auto-hubs on the front,driver side.Although all he did was drive and listen he thinks this is the problem.He says I need to replace the auto-hubs with manual ones.That is where we stand now until we get to put it up and look at it.My question is how does this system work and could this analysis be true.He said Ford only used this system one year.I heard of other Ford vechiles with auto-hub problems but this one stymies me alittle.If this is the problem where and how much does the conversion kit cost.Is it hard to changeover? I trust this mechanic(he is a friend) but I just want alittle info on this before I venture in. How can the hubs be bad if all there is axle shafts and cv joints? Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.
