Hope everyone around Philadelphia and Delaware made it through ok with the t- storms Wednesday night. We got over 2" in about 20 mins, and that wasn't nearly the worst area aourn us. But while I was driving home from work, raining cats and dogs, I was sitting in traffic, and not 100 yards away lightning struck a telephone pole!! What a huge light in the sky that made;I had a headache the rest of the night from it. man, the pole was still standing, but there were shards of it everywhere. Never seen something like that before, it was amazing. Just wanted to share.
Yea lightning is pretty cool...i've never been extremely close to one, but the closed i've gotten to a strike is probably 2000-2500 feet. It hit the mall I used to work at (I was outside in my truck at the time) 3 times in a row.
I made it through okay, but had a close call with lightning myself.
that was a lot of rain! I was surprised to see how many others have had similar experiences! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...=260034&page=1
Glad your OK. I had lighting hit the guardrail right beside me last summer. WOW talk about getting your attention! It sounded like an explosion inside my wife's T-bird and made the engine stumble for a second or two. My ears were ringing for about two hours afterwords too. I went back after the storm and the lighting had vaporized a fist sized section out of the top of the metal. Man that stuff is nothing to mess around with!
I was across my alley in a neighbors garage while he was working on his D**ge while it ws raining and saw a green flash all of the sudden and heard a sound like 10 shotguns goin off at once. about 30 secinds later his step duaghter came out and said lightning went down their chimney into their fireplace. when we went out front to see if nething happened to the house we saw that the person across the street from them had their chimney blown clear off the house.
