fuel pump question

fuel pump question

I am installing my fuel pump on my 351 c and got the inlet and outlet mixed up.

Which one is the inlet? The one towards the rear of the engine or the one towards the front.

stock type pump? the inlet from the tank is the hose connection and the outlet to the carb is the threaded fitting connection.
