Wheel Hop

Does anyone else have terrible wheel hop or is this just a 6-speed thing? Or it could be just a reg. cab long bed thing. Is there a cure?

Auto, SC, Longbed, FX4...no hop. Goes fast.

Maybe the camper pkg helps mine. Dunno.

My '02 F-150 FX4 SC long bed had wheel hop pretty bad. No camper pkg.

Reg cab and long bed make for a light backend. Too much to push without a lot of wieght on the back end. a camper pkg would help reduce spring wrap.

only options I think might help would be trac bars or stiffer springs. Or you could upgrade to a crewcab

Are trac bars easy to take on and off? (Trips to the dealer)

It depends on the type you buy. I have never heard of a trac bar voiding a warranty. Although it depends on your dealer. I have always put chips in my trucks and lift kits. never a warranty issue until my service writer quit. New guy ****ed me off and I had to diagnose the problems for him. Then he charged me and called me a liar...

Well back to the question... depending on the type you get you can disconnect 4 bolts and be done with most if you had to. But it would be hard for a dealer to argue that it would void a warranty.

I'm building my own traction bars. I have a CC auto shortbed fx4. I measured my friends SC longbed 6 speed 2x4 and it's only an inch longer from end of transmission to pinion. His and mine both have real bad wheel hop/axle wrap in the dirt.

Unhappy

I have noticed a bit of this (more than I expected) when on a sand/gravel road and accelerating from a stop. FYI CC 4x4 Regular bed with Ltd slip.

I'm not worried about the trac bars voiding the warranty, but I would say the dealer would be slightly tipped off of a tuner or module if they saw trac bars under a truck. I would think that would be worse than guages.

**** is against the rules. It is considered "masking" profanity with symbols
I if you type foul or vulgar language it bounces the filters and places **** so either way..........do not do it.

Tim,

I appologize. I did not think in the context that it was vulgar. However, I understand that we are setting high values here and I will make every effort to avoid filters in the future. I appreciate your efforts to keep this a family site and support you completely. I hope no one assumes that I used a different word than I did as the other options would make my mother think she raise a sailor
