Are you driving on dry pavement, or on slippery loose gravel etc ?
The front axle has a higher ratio to the back, which in 4wd makes the vehicle an effective front wheel drive, with assistance from the rear. So, when driving on hard pavement, the difference between the two axles needs to be taken up somewhere..with a sickening clunk, before I figured it.
