I ordered my F-150 back in May and the dealership told me it would take 6-8 wks (standard) but some had been coming in as early as 4 weeks. It's now been almost 11 weeks. Is this normal right now? I'm starting to wonder if it came in and they sold it on me.

 

i wouldnt get overly concerned, even tho im sure your wanting your truck pretty bad. delivery times can vary from a hold up in production, hold up in the holding yards, even a time delay with the transport trucks that deliver the vehicles. just check with the dealer to see if they can tell you when to expect your new truck.

 

I wouldn't worry about it either. I'm going to order mine in the next few weeks and they told me about 6-8 weeks as well from the time I order. But my friend ordered one around March and it took a little over 3 months for him to get his. Fords response was that some trucks just take longer than expected.

 

I guess the thing I don't understand the most is that I could buy a roll of toilet paper from Singapore over the internet and track it's shipping route all the way to my house, but I buy a $38K truck and the best they can tell me is it's been "Released from the Factory". Why isn't there a better system in place?

 

HAHA. That's a great analogy on that one. It is rediculus that they can't tell you more about where it is or what stage of the process it is in. The way I figure it is, if they say 6-8 weeks, it should be there in 6-8 weeks. Or they should compensate you for the extra time. You might try talking to them about that, you might be able to get a couple free oil changes out of it.

 

Do you have the VIN? Post it here and I'll run it. I can't track it or locate it, but I can tell you if they sold it already.

 

Nope, no VIN. I have an order number, would that help? I just talked to them again yesterday and they said the holiday weekend extends things. But I thought it was going to be here BEFORE the 4th. It's driving me nuts.

 

I can't use the order number, I need the complete VIN. If it's been released, it should be there within a week, and the dealer has the VIN by now if they want to give it to you.

 

They told me it was released on July 1st. Still not here.

 

Just got back from the dealership. I guess the story goes....The truck was one of the last built before the factory shut down for the 2 weeks over the 4th of July holiday and got stuck in the plant. I guess it's supposed to be here within the next week now. They showed me the status sheet, with VIN number, which I've got now, but it had the same order number as original. So, I tend to believe them and that they didn't sell my truck out from under me and order a new one.
