has anyone that is running a 360 or 390 have gasket matched/ minorly ported heads and intake w/autolite 4100, a small cam and headers, and twin 2 1/4 pipes on a rebuilt engine? i dont want to spend alot, but have a fair amount of free time so im willing to grind on what i have, and i already have the 4100. if any has run this type of setup could you please tell me how it performed? im not really satisfied w/ my 360's performance so i would like to boot it up up some untill im not drinkin' gas anymore.
Well I dont know about the gasket matching and cam, but just with the 4-barrel intake, holley 600, headers, and 2 1/4" dual exhaust woke mine up quite a bit. I've since moved on to greater things, though.
It should work great. What cam were you thinking about?
i would consider the holley 600 vac sec carb. it is much better then the autolite, imho. as rusty said, just with a intake, carb and headers with a dual exhaust it will wake your engine up abit.
I want to include the heads too cause i gotta fix a bad valve anyways, its my excuse for doing all this work
as for the cam i was thinking about a 268h comp high energy (218 dur.@.50 and .494 lift) with the adjustable rockers, but am still willing to take a good suggestion
that is s good cam pick muscle truck, i like comp cams, i'm running a xtreme energy comp cam now . the adjustable valvetrain would help free up some hp,so would the head work. on the heads, concentrate on the exhaust side. i have a couple of questions, what intake you going to run? do you have a electronic ignition?
i havew an old iron 4bbl laying around that im gonna do some grinding on, i think its about a 75. yes i do have electronic ignition, but have no idea who made it. its just a little blue box on my fender, maybe i will get some pixs if i can get this piece of machinery to work.
