I didnt know that you had to change to the oil on an manual trans, but thats the ones with the real thick gear oil. Normally you never have to change that stuff, should last forever....theres nothing inside of a manual transmission to build up major heat like an auto trans. But you guys say your trannys take ATF so do you have to change that every 15k miles like an auto tranny two?

I learn something new everyday I love this site

ZF 5 speed actually uses synthetic ATF. I put a quart of 75W140 AMSOIL gear oil in mine and topped off with AMSOIL synthetic (total of 4 1/2 qts) to try to calm a grinding on shift issue, it seemed to help for a while. I now have a new (to me) used tranny to put back in sometime this summer.

Run Amsoil ATF all the way. Snowmobiler, todays manual trannys run ATF. The older manuals with the cast iron cases used the thick gear oil. But newer aluminum cased trannys have smaller tolerances and orifaces that the gear oil just won't flow through. I burned up two trannys to find that out. Domino, my advice is the Amsoil ATF. No it's not cheap, like $6 a quart, but you should only use about 4 quarts. On the ZF's the oil is easy to change, and $24 is not all that much. Hope that helps.
