earlier this year, i took my dash apart to put in an aftermarket voltmeter, right where the button would go on a 4x4, and while i was in there, i thought about puttin' in some red bulbs, like the older 'Stangs....
but the gauges have some kinda filter, and it's green.
I guess it can't be changed, as far as i know...
IF it can be changed, i'd sure like to know how, as well.

The gauges themselves are made out of green-tinted plastic, where the light can go through the gauge material so you can see the illumination on the front.

They are, what they are.

However, there are companies that make "glow gauges" which are essentially thin plastic gauge surfaces that illuminate differently, and they are fairly easy to install. They hook to 12V and ground, and the only tricky part is removing your gauge needles, putting these over the gauge faces (they stick right on like a label, actually), then putting the needles back on. Needlenose pliers and a firm hand is all that is required.

I've seen them in blue and red, as well as white-face gauges that glow multiple colors, depending how you flip the switch on the included power supply.

If you want to see what i'm talking about, search ebaymotors.com for "glow gauges" and you'll see several suppliers. Pick one (or a few) and email them asking if they have the gauges for your truck, with or without the tach. I know a few of them do.

I actually bought a set, then sold them on ebay. They looked very cool at night, but in daytime I didn't particularly find them easy to see. Not a fan of white-face gauges, and I ended up hacking up a digital t-bird cluster anyway.

But to each their own, right? might work very well for you.

I probably wont do the color changing. I just thought about it today when i had to change out a burned out bulb back there. But since i saw they were clear, i knew there was a catch to changing colors. Thanks for replys
