Big Problems.....

Big Problems.....

Well I have been the king of problems lately 2 blowouts in one week, tire on my 67 mercury went a tire on my truck went and the water pump on my cadillac went. But back to the main problem........

The Rear Main Seal is gone on my 1992 F-150, the family Mechanic Claims it a tough one to fix because that year model truck the seal is one whole piece instead of two. I am not a mechanic I only get mechanically inclined when changing a tire or when I am drinking alot. So my question is, is what I am being told true, if it is what should I expect to pay to have it fixed?

While I have y'all here and captive...hehe... I am putting 4 "new" tires on the truck I bought them at a Garage sell for $25.00 they are 31x10.5xR15 The truck originally had 235x75xr15 are these going to be too big? Also the truck is not 4wd and I am considering putting a lift kit on it I am not looking for nothing huge just a little jump in hieght. What is the difference between a lift kit and lift spring kit? I appreciate your help and appreciate your listening to my complaints this is the best ford site around!

Welcome to FTE. I did the same switch on my Exp. Just enough clearance. Looks much better. You have to pull the trans to do the seal. But it is not a real big job. Cost depends on where you take it, dealer or local shop. If it isn't real bad, live with it for awhile. Justice Brothers has something to dump in that will hold it for awhile. They are on the net. Can't help you with the lift kit. Good luck.
