6.0L Crankshaft Problem?
A guy was stopped along the interstate last weekend. He was driving a new 250 with a 6.0 and towing a 30-34ft 5er. Stopped to give a fellow Ford guy a hand. He said he was broke down, but Ford (the Roadside thing) was sending help. We decided to do some of our own troubleshooting. When he cranked the truck over, the starter and flywheel turned, but fast. It seemed as though there was no load on the starter. There was also some oil coming out of the rear main area. It really seemed as though the crank was broken at or close to the rear main. I wish I would have scribbled down the VIN on the truck so someone could track what exactly happened.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? or was it a freak?
I don't have a 6.0 (V10-I like paying for gas), but two of my uncles do. Neither of them have had any problem to date.
