Problems installing EZ-Locker in Explorer (D35 TTB)

A friend of mine has been working on installing a EZ-Locker (Lock-Right clone) in the front of his '93 Explorer. The front axle is the Dana 35 TTB. He stated that he has everything apart, and can get 3 of the 4 "main pieces" of the locker into the carrier, but not all 4 pieces. He said it simply won't fit in there. The guy is not a newbie to working on Ford's.

Anyway, I told him I'd post on here and see if anyone had any advice or had any similar issues when installing a lunchbox locker into the Dana 35 TTB.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Buford

Has he pulled the carrier or is he trying to do this inside the axle? If the locker wont fit and he hasnt pulled the carrier, then it is likely his ring gear is too thick. The carrier will need to be pulled.

ive been thinking about a lock-rite loker myself for the front of my '93 ranger since my steering universals are shot and im going to be pulling the axles anyhow. wouldnt be much more work droppng the front driveshaft and removing the differential from the ttb. wish the u-joints were greaseable, might last longer than 75,000 miles.
