turn the wheels all the way one direction and hold against the stop for a few seconds. then turn them the other way and do the same. if the pump is still alright that should get most of the air out. you may have to do this a couple of times. any air left should work its way out with a little driving.

Always use a filter in the return line whenever you crack the PS system to replace anything.

Wix transmission/PS filter #58964
200 psi working, pressure relieved, magnetic
change yearly or 12000 miles
Ford equivalent filter kit #XC3Z-7B155-AA
filter alone #XC3P-7B155-BA

I would suggest doing this with the front wheels lifted off the ground. It is absolutely the way to get rid of the air in the system, but turning your wheels with the truck not rolling can be hard on other steering components. Only takes a minute to save a little extra wear and tear.
