It's a little different with transmission fluid. Synthetic transmission fluid has different lubricating qualities that if used in the wrong transmission can actually cause excessive slippage and wear out/deteriorate the clutches real fast.
Engine bearing/etc are made out of metal, and too much lubrication is not a bad thing. Transmission clutches and bands are different - there's supposed to be a certain amount of friction.
