fuel pump voltage

I put a 5.0 from an 88 lincoln into my 73 Bronco and I have some questions.

The voltage to the fuel pump is full battery voltage when the engine is starting but drops to 7 or 8 after it is running. Why is this? The wire to the fuel pump relay is a resistance wire.

The wires from the TAD/TAB valves are not hooked up. Are they necessary?

Thanks for any help.

Joe

For the fuel pump voltage, you answered your own question. The wire you used is probably the stock wire to the coil, which only sees 6-9 volts. There is a bypass in the start circuit, which compensates for the battery being drained by the starter. Tie into the wire before the resistance wire, and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. The resistance wire that powers the fuel pump comes from the hot side of the starter solenoid and his hard wired into the fuel pump relay. The second wire from the starter solenoid bypasses the resistance wire and gives the fuel pump full voltage while starting. This is how it was wired on the Lincoln from the factory. No wiring was changed, in fact only 6 or 7 connections were required.

How about the Tad/Tab valves, do I need these?

Thanks again for your time
