I need a gas tank for my 69 F100, the kind that goes behind the seat. I know someone still manufactures them, but I lost the phone number. Google has not been much help and most parts places stop at 73.
all i can tell ya is try the local bone yards. ive got parts catalogs for several different places and none of them list tanks. you could try www.recks-relics.com or vintage-ford-parts.com
Hit every boneyard on Shephard drive from I-45 to I-10, (north side of Houston for those not local, about ten miles of junk yards) *EVERYTHING* older than '92 has been melted down into tank parts and shipped overseas or something like that. There are no oldies.
I was calling around and someone gave me a number who gave me a number for someone that said that for $250 plus $40 shipping they would manufacture a new one and I should have jumpped on it, but I thought I could do better and now I cannot find that guy's number. Bummer.
The internet is suprizingly useless. So far all Google has found has been this discussion group and 'Gas Tank Renu' who have an afiliate near by that will clean and poly line the old one for $325.
To reply to the post asking why I am looking for a new gas tank, I am looking for any gas tank because I want to the this rig back on the road as soon as I can. My cousin needs it for a new job.
the website for obsolete ford parts is just that plus .com, they have an extensive catalog, and right now you can order one for free, or just browse online. i hope you find your gas tank, if you are in houston, i am in ft.worth, denton auto yard has a plethera of parts, give them a call
I have a couple of behind-the-seater tanks... I might use one myself if I can't fit this Bronco tank I got for under the box. I'd consider selling you one - you'd have to get it thru customs though...
I had the same problem and kept searching e-bay until I found one. I got it for $15.00 and paid about $40.00 for shipping from Ill. I looked at every web sight I could find and nothing resulted. Good luck.
i have a 71 f250 long bed stepside i swapped in a cab tank out of a 78 dodge pickup it took a longer fuel pickup line otherwise no big deal .the sending unit is the same as ford so your fuel gauge should still work.
have a good day
