jumping needles

i noticed tonight that my gas needle and my thermostat needle??? were moving while at idle...I did have the a/c on and when i took this off the thermostat needle stayed in the middle, before it would move down towards cool...the gas was down at half and when i turned off the a/c it went back up to 3/4 a tank...02 explorer...does this sound right?

The same exact thing happens to mine, same year and everything I was wondering what the problem is....

I had a Mustang that did the same thing. Turned out to be the Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator. Not sure if the Explorer has one.

i dunno i just try not to pay any attention to it anymore...hopefully it wont be any problem...im goin in thursday for some other stuff maybe ill ask them about it
