Driver side door won't unlock
I have read many posts and there does not seem to be a difinitive answer on this. My driver side door on my 97 xlt will only open if I beat the hell out of it, and that just looks too white trash so its time to fix it. All other doors unlock fine. Well now I have sprung the inner door latch trying to open it from the inside, and I barely even pulled it. I need help, What do I need to replace on the outside, springs, actuators. and what the hell is with the inner one, it is stuck in the pulled out position. After all my timing chain problems this thing is a small drive from the bottom of the lake. Thanks for the help. If you could direct me to a good link that would be appreciated.
I had to replace my entire engine, because the timing chain in mine jumped and destroyed a valve or three.
I had the same door problem prior to that and while it isn't a huge problem, I feel stupid walking to the other side to unlock my door.
I thought about fixing it myself, but when I got to looking at the schema, I threw my hands up, my book down and called my local Ford dealer.
They want $170 to fix it and I'm just about ready to cough up the money and let them at it.
Good luck!
