Sure will, but I have about 4000 miles left, so it may be a while.
i like purolator myself, though i do use motorcraft oil filters. i think any off-the-shelf filter will work well if you change it when it needs it. once a year is usually when i change the air filter. id like to build my own out of p.v.c. like ive seen done somewhere, but i dont like the high price of the k&n filter element and id have to order it. not seen it at any local outlets.
MAC intake kit on my 4.2 ordered from Motorhaven. The oiled media filter says MAC on it but I suspect it might be a rebadged K&N. Either way, it appears the exact same as a K&N.
Like Rusty, I am soon (approx 1 month) to send off a sample for a UOA.
I usually overdo the one that comes in the vehicle and then switch to K&N. I am not biased as far as that, but I like the reusable idea. Currently in my F250 I am running a dented cheapy paper and chrome filter system, but will switch to washable when I rebuild the carb and slap on a new air cleaner. I am looking at the fram air hog for it. If it is cheaper than a K&N, why not?
rusty70f100, how many minutes per pound do you have to cook them air hog varmints?
I run a Fram air filter and Hastings 426 oil filter, which has cotton filtration. It's 6 3/4" long and holds one quart. .......................o&o>...................
coming from the world of auto racing the K&N filters are a waste of $$$. Let me explain.
K&N says their filter flows more air....YES it does, but what they dont tell you is that is with no oil on the element. Also, the more you wash and reoil the element the more restrictive it becomes. My engine builder has dynoed 800 HP dirt latemodel engine with a new paper element, new fresh oiled K&N, and an older K&N that had been washed and reoiled a few times. The paper element proved to not loose much HP, the older K&N had lost over 30HP!!!!
Another way I look at it, what is nascar nextel cup cars using? 100% of them are running paper elements and with the multi-million dollar R&D that these teams have to try and get every single horsepower out of their engines if they are using paper elements than so am I.
