Fuel tank problem.

1995 F150 6cyc 300 dual fule tanks. The problems is when the fuel is feeding to the engine and the excess is directed to the other tank that is not in use. It will show you empty, the excess gas goes to the other tank. and visa vesa I need to get some schemetics for the fuel system. Can anybody tell me why or where I may get schematics?

There was a recall on this, fuel going into the other fuel tank while the other is used. Dnnt know if your year model was affected but mine was(1990). Check to see first if it has, might save you some trouble

Sharonis,
Could you please post a follow up if you find any info on a recall. I also have a '95 F150 4.9 dual tank doing the same thing. I found info on the net for a recall on previous years but not the 1995.

fuel feed problem

I will search the site. I was wondering if there are schematics on the net other than having to purchase a Chiltons or Hayes manuel.

See my post on July 19th, dual fuel tankS. My fuel was being pumped to my front tank. Its been doing this for years, i need to fix it because my front tank was leaking. I think your selector valve has two fuel lines going to the front of it and two lines going to the back of it. I saw a pic of it in my Haines manual. For recall info you can enter your Vin. number at Ford.com, under recalls. Also i registered my truck at Ford so they will send me a letter when there's a recall. Just my 2 cents.

My tread reply for my fuel tank problem was:

It's a common problem on dual tank with frame rail fuel selector valve.
Ford had recalls on this selector valve many years ago.

The selector valve is located on driver side frame rail. They are black round shape with 4 fuel lines at the rear and 2 fuel lines on the front.

remove 2 10mm bolts and 6 lines. That's all to it but prepare for a messy fuel leaks.

The 95 model has a fuel delivery module in each tank that contains the pump and switching mechanism, there is nothing external like on the late 80's models. You probably need to change the FDM in the front tank. I have the same problem. Just changed my rear FDM and fuel is being returned to the front tank so time to change it too. They are $135 at Advance.
