Question Transflow Fuel Tanks

Heard about Transflow tanks and concidering one. i have a 2004 CC 6.0 4x4 6.5foot bed King Ranch, well its nice to travel long distances in its only got a 29 gallon tank and transflow makes one that goes right in place of the 29 keeping the bed clear thats a 46 gallon and i know its only 17gallon more but that will take me from 440-460 a tank to around just over 700 i think. only question is how does it work with the computer on the distance to empty and all. i want to still be able to use the DTE over head and all .want it to run smoothly. any one have insight on this.

thanks

i have no problom with the x's we had a 2001 x' Limited 4x4 with the 7.3 of course and when i would fill that one up at the pump the little heads up DTE would say about 780 miles to empty that was awsome. mine only says 460. i want to put that 46 or bigger even if i can fit under the truck. i know i can put one in the bed with 96 gallon but i only have the 6.5 bed need to keep all the space i got

for the 46 gallon underneath replacement its 647.00 bucks for the 8 foot bed 57gallon its 827.00 and so on for the in bed ones its not cheap but its a nice feature if its somthing that your into like not having to stop so much and getting those good prices example where im at with the 40 miles travel each way to work i go through some truck stop areas where diesel is like 1.70-1.80 a gallon where by my house and work in the residential areas its like 1.95-2.15 so it would be nice to fill up on the cheap and have it last. just want to find out about the heads up DTE i heard in the past the computer was really messing with its self , truck ran fine but DTE was all over the place and i well want to do it right with the computer accurate and all

doesn't say 2004 but maybe it will help. Tells you how to reprogram the mileage computer for a different size tank. I got a 55 gallon from and plan to have this done at the dealer.

Try www.elitetruck.com. Their tank is 58 gals. Personally, it's more gals for the buck. I called...they are negotiable on price. Retail was $895.

My 55 gallon tank was from www.aerotanks.com and it was $622 plus $120 shipping and I paid my mechanic $175 to install. I drove from Seattle to Missoula Montana and I still had 3/8 of a tank left with a large camper on. Very cool. Just about doubles my range from the 29 gallon tank.

Since the tank is a replacement and uses the same guages and pump I don't see why it could be a warranty issue. I will have the computer updated soon so I can track my range properly.

I have been all over this topic myself (making DTE track a larger tank) on a 2003/2004 and so far have not found a way to do it. The instructions from transfer flow don't work after 2002 ( I have their 46 gallon tank installed). I have spoken to them at length about this. I have also inquired with 3 different dealers (the mechanics, not just salesment and service advisers), and they all say there is no way to reprogram the DTE for a specific fuel capacity anymore. What you can do (somehow) is select between the long/short bed tank size. If you can tell the truck that you have a long bed tank (39 gallons) when you actually have a 46 gallon tank, the DTE will be closer then leaving it thinking you only have 29.

In another post about installing an overhead console in an XLT, there was a connector diagram for the overhead computer and pin 16 of this connector is called "Fuel Tank Selector signal". I am hoping that this pin is used to tell the console long vs short bed tank size. I haven't had time to look into this yet, but hopefully it is as easy as either grounding this, or pulling it high (to 5 volts through a resistor) to select the other tank on short beds. Can anyone with a wiring diagram trace the souce of this pin 16 and find out what is driving it?

Long bed trucks, you guys are out of luck with this method! If I am successful figuring out how to switch the selection, I'll let this board know.
