Sorry I haven't been participating much over the last few weeks. I have been in the garage almost every free minute getting the never-ending list of little things done on the truck.
Recent accomplishments:
Put in a stock NAPA clutch and the original tranny until I can afford a hot rod C6.
Rebuilt the stock clutch linkage. First I had to flip the block side clutch pivot mount to compensate for the engine being pushed back in the frame. Second, lowered the frame side busing in the bracket to compensate for lowered engine position. Third, I got rid of the factory rod from the pedal to the bellcrank and replaced it with a chrome moly rod with rod ends to eliminate the slop.
Mounted a manual master cylinder (GM, sorry) to eliminate the vacuum booster. Bending up new lines tomorrow after work.
Built my crossover steering rod from the pitman arm to the knuckle on the passenger side. 3/4 rod ends on both sides.
Built my steering shaft from the column to the steering box. Used the stock shaft, cut off the end, and put on a needle bearing u-joint to convert to the saginaw box.
Replaced my Dynomax bullet mufflers ( Did I say mufflers?) with some Hooker Aero Chambers with 3.5 inlet and outlet. They sound GOOD!!! I'll post a video soon.
Bought a 1-wire alternator which should arrive by Tuesday, and an Aerospace Components vacuum pump which I still need to mount.
In a nutshell ( Is it too late for a nutshell version now?) I should be taking her for her first short drive in less than 2 weeks. I am getting seriously anxious now.
I'm back on the road, and the trucks is running better than ever. I got tunes, AC and a locked rear axle. She's starting to take shape. Good thing, since the boat itch is getting me.
Sounds great Scouder. I am nearing completion of major body work on my '66 and am getting anxious to be driving mine. It's exciting when you get close...just don't rush anything!!
You guys are just gonna have to wait for the 4 wheel burnout until I get a good tranny, but once I get a few miles on her I'll undoubtedly do the two wheel variety just for fun. I'll post video of that too, even if it includes an "operator induced inversion".
Gotta go. I'm headed for the parts store to get some brake tubing. Maybe I can have some pedal by tomorrow.
Glad to hear it Brian, your that close to having brakes for that thing? LOL!!
Ya dont need brakes! they just slow ya down!! Good Luck-Russ
Ya know...I don't think I have ever been as concerned about the brakes as I am now! An old mechanic I know told me recently, "It ain't how fast you go, but how fast you can stop that really matters". I think He's on to something.
No kidding that's what my father said yo me when i got my tuck i just wanted to buy all these parts and hall A$$, even though i had to pump the brakes like 50 times to get it to stop lol...

Ya Brian,
I think you might be right...After my 70 F250 Carried a big Overhead Camper on it for 30 years(last being 12 1/2' Dreamer) after I sold the Camper off the back...I never really knew how good that Dayton front Disc system really was... I about put my head thru the windshield the first few stop lights...
A great man once told me, "Brakes are for wusses."
Kurt I'LL tell you what...In the 70s I use to race Flat track Murder scooters..and we didnt have brakes....1/2 mile and mile dirt tracks...and you go into a corner at 120MPH and come out of turn at 90....Ya better have some Kahona's!!! Then I woke up (what NO brakes) Aww love it tho!! Russ
