Which gear????
Just bought a 2002 F250 7.3L 4x2, strictly to tow with. Have a 9000# Keystone Montana. Trailer pulls heavy, with around 980#'s of tonque weight.
Noticed that at 60mph in OD I run around 1750 to 1800 rpm. I think the max torque on the 7.3L is at around 1600 to 1800 rpm.
Will the truck continually overshift into third gear or should I drive it in third gear. A lot louder engine noise in third than i overdrive or fourth. Have never pulled with a diesel so I don't know.
Towed a lot with a Ford V10 and generally had to keep it in third gear or at a 1 to 1 ratio.
Any ideas or comments welcome as at the end of July I am going to Arkansas for a week at the lakes and don't want to get the truck too hot or have problems.
