I can turn on the key and shift to nuetral, start the truck and then shift into gear. An extra bit of info I have a short in the brakes, without hitting the brake
I blow the brake fuse. Is there an electrical connection to the key from the brake ( like for a solenoid)??

ken, check the cruise control senser in front of the brake resevoir. if it leaks it can blow your brake fuse in the fuse panel. hope that helps. good luck

 

What a guy you were spot on the sensor leaked and corroded the wires and shorted them out. Fixed all my problems in one big hurry.

was about to say, had the same problem on the 97, but was a loose wire on the harness under the dash that was shortin out, and would do the same things that you were refering to
