Having 200K on my odeometer I now find it is really hard to keep my van in a tight lane.My hand shifts left to right,.then right to left, like a card magician. The front end allignment seems to be OK.Could it be ball joint time,Is there an adjustment to tighten the steering??Tire are all new.

I just mentioned to PSDJOE that my mechanic said the steering box gets loose and you deal with the slop. I'm going to check into replacement costs next.
Does that van have ball joints or king pins? How are the tie rod ends? I would make sure the ball joints or king pins and tie rod ends are OK first before I would mess with the steering box. Also, depending on the model year there are bushings in the front end that if badly worn will also cause steering tracking problems.
