when i tap my front cat with my fist, it rattles quite abit. Since i have two cats, im wondering which cats does what job?
heres my emissions score from 4/7/04:
Gas:my reading:limit
HC:57ppm:189ppm
CO:.82%:2.36%
NO:802.9ppm:2614ppm
CO2:14.43%: Not required
When this was taken, the computer was almost dead only(only controlled timing), egr unplugged, air pump pumping into rear cat full-time. Since then i have removed egr, computer & wiring, installed ds2 ignition.
My truck is exempt when it turns 25, in 5 years, i only have 2 more emissions testings to go to.
I am wondering if i gut both cats should i still pass?
84-250,yes pass and go straight to jail and not collect smog certificate. Install a high flow cats, the difference between high flow and gutted is hard to detect. Here in California I played the smog game for years. Many tests done on my old EPA 75 smog machine with Tune Up Tester. Carl......................o&o>.................... ..................
An 84 F-250 with cats? My 83 F-250 came from the factory with just a muffler. Anything over 8500 GVWR didn't require cats because it was considered a "big truck". If you have the light duty 3/4 ton then it will have your emissions system. My 83 is rated for 8800 GVWR and it say non-catalyst right on the rad support. It is just weird for me to see an F-250 from that era with cats.
84-250, sounds like Ohio's about as bad on smog as California. HA, HA, we were first. Whats the limit in HC for idle and high speed and for Co at both speeds? Is the test a sniffer only or do you run on a dyno? My Rover (Disco) is full time 4-wheel drive hence
sniffer test only. Next the "smog pigs" will come up with a all wheel dyno test with all ths SUV's around. We go back 30 years for smog, the 68 PU is exempt ya got to love smog free hot rodding. Later, Carl...................o&o>....................... .......
