In my 99 F-350 I'm starting the install for the controller. I have the
plug that came with my truck and it looks like it shouln't be too difficult
to match up to the controller's wires but I'm a little confused about feeding the power. The controller has a power wire that should feed to the battery but the plug from Ford doen't seem to have a power wire... My guess is that I need to run a 10 guage wire to the battery from the controller. Please someone tell me I don't and that I missed something
When I put my brake control unit in my truck - I didn't have to run any extra wire - just wire the plug to the controller, and plug it in, to make it work. Yours must be different?? So you have an extra wire after you wire the plug??
Well, not an extra wire just nothing to run power to the battery. The directions say not the tap into any other wires for power. It need a dedicated wire for power (10 guage).
I decided to just go ahead and run a power wire to my battery and it's working now but I didn't understand why I didn't have a power wire in the plug that Ford provided. Oh well. Couple extra hours of work I guess.
my 2000 was this way as well and I did the same thing ran a wire from the battery to the controller and it works fine but I figured that it should of work with the factory wiring since it had the tow package.
