Need some advice.....

Bottom line we have stripped the flange nut on both sides front passenger side brake line of my Bronco(87 302) ANybody have any advice on how to get these off(only need one side off) Have alredy tried the vice grips and PB blaster. Also does anybody know the name of the part I'll try to describe it(would be the easy fix). Attached to the frame,it has one line from master cylinder going to it, then 3 lines coming out(pass, driver and one rear) It's about 2 inches long, inch deep, metal.Sits almost straight down from the master. I call it a three way Tee, The wonderful people at Advanced tell me it's a proprtinal(vavle) (they don't have have it) Looked it up at BG that's not it. If I can find it I'll just cut the line, run new, for the front and hook the others to it(probably too easy).

Self learned advise: when son asks, dad whats a Flange nut. Answer: Something you use the flange nut wrench on. Before he uses that open end wrench
Thanks for ya'lls help

Joe

Sounds like you will be cutting and replacing. Yes, you should always use a flange nut wrench on these. And you will need a flanging tool to run the new lines, unless they are pre made. If you need a flanging tool, as an ex-plumber I can tell you that the $5 one at Home Depot etc. is worthless. You will need to buy the Rigid brand, it is about $25.

if the box or three way you are talking about has a wire coming out of it it is a proportioning valve. mine does not have a wire so it is a safety tee. if and when you braek a brake line a small flapper inside this device is supposed to flip over and stop brake fluid from going to the rear or the front brakes so you still have stopping.
9 times out of 10 a line wrench is no better than a open end wrench. can you cut the line right next to the nut and use a high quality 6 point socket.this will usually do the trick.
