Squeeking front end, the result
Both front calipers were bad....both front rotors were shot...both axle seals were cooked...
So all was replaced brake hydraulics flushed and bled....and the truck feels nice and smooth.....wow...like a new truck!!!
Perhaps tis could be the reason my mileage took a great big dump? I was getting 11 mpg...was getting 13ish
Does $850 sound reasonable? (Using Fomoco parts) labor included.
I have a mustang project that is ongoing.
Using autozone parts was out of the question....even with the Fomoco discount the parts are still pricier than them Autozone parts...
and at 250k miles....I'd say the originals served their purpose...
Yes...at 100/hour the shop rates do suck....this is something I have no control over. I WON'T however ever go back to the dealer, bunch of crooks.
But the end result is a good diagnosis and a smooth ride...not to mention
the better mileage is back.
Bro in law and I indexed, cross drilled and chamfered the front rotors...the result is a truck that stops on a dime....no pulling to one side either...perfect!
Now onto the roll cage!!
250k, yeah I'd say you got your $$'s worth on the originals.
I got my truck back from the Ranch, WOW, now thats a motor, she runs like a scared ape!
Any ideas on a cold air intake that will go around the larger MAF with the cone filter?
The tranny definialtly is crap, I ordered a new one from Brians Truck Shop, so thats the next project. I dont know how I'd be able to orchastrate having the B&M deep tranny pan coated, although I'd like to.
So you're having a tranny built at a shop? Ok.....get the trans oil cooler...
and trans oil pan degreased and beadblasted....(be sure to cover the oil in/outlets)
We will need to meet someplace....call me when you get time...
I am off friday evenings, Sat and Sun.
cheers
PS be sure to check my gallery from time to time....will be adding pics of the Y pipe,
headers and other upgrades as I go...
