I've repaired many firewalls over the years... cars... trucks... you probably don't need angle iron nor any triangulation. Firewalls are typically 16ga or so, and as they acquire surface rust they get weaker. Also, constant stress of braking and clutching, also flexes the steel after a while and it looses its springyness.
If you're *really* worried, a piece of 12"x12"x.125" mild steel over the area is really all you need. Probably what, 12 bucks? 15 bucks? I'm only saying this so you don't break your ***** unnecessarily

Thanks for the part numbers, and thanks for the ideas of doing it myself. There isn't any rust, so I'm sure it's just from 17 years of braking and clutching that has just fatigued the metal.
