Engine math?

From what I understood around the time that I got it, it came out of a '68 corvette. Why would somebody remove that engine? I don't know, but hopefully, I will be able to run some casting numbers soon. I never really checked into it, I was 14 when I got it, I was like a 6 year old with the a key ring that opened toys'r'us and every candy store ever. Serial numbers were the farthest things from my mind.
