6.0 Problems

I just purchased an F-250 with a build date of 4/04. Has anyone with the same build date experienced any of the problems associated with the earlier build dates?

First off, welcome to FTE. You'll find a ton of info here. Find the search functions and you'll find info on just about anything related to your truck.

Re: your question, I have the same 04/04. I had 1 injector replaced and a fuel conditioning module replaced at 90 miles. It's been running like a champ since then. Now have about 3500 miles on it.

You'd be hard-pressed to find someone that's had major problems with a 6.0 built after 06/03. I'm not saying there aren't ANY people without problems with 04s, but nearly every one of the problem engines appear to have been installed in truck built before June of '03. At least that's what we consistently see in our service shop.

mine was built in 8/04 to many problems to list most problems have ever had out of a truck , the 6.0 is a major disappiontment to me, and the ford dealerships act like they could care less.

Yes anything could be better... The space shuttle goes into orbit with a vehicle built with low bid goverment parts (they realy don't get paid enough).
I traded in (actually gave it to them) an 88 Dodge W150 plow truck for a 04/04 6.0 and, well what can I say. Wow. Motor is just what I expected and more. No problems so far. The only real problem it goes to good. Got pulled over the other night. The good thing is I only had drank one beer.
The bad thing it was still in my hand...

If you have problems with a new truck and are not happy with the service, please go to a different dealer. I found a Mistro of diesels. He has an internet moniter right on his tool box. The service department is only as good as the mechanics.

No problem for him. He belly aches at every opportunity. Not a positive word ever exits his mouth.

I know Bob. I did think it was interesting that he has an "08/04" build.

Maybe he's finally going to get a 6.0 in 8/04, and just getting the belly aching out ahead of time,

I don't understand this attitude here that anyone with problems is a whiner, troll, belly acher, etc. People come to these kinds of forums to read about the good and the bad. If all they wanted to hear was good stuff, they could just read the ford marketing stuff.

The 04 builds do seem better but they still have some problems. Maybe they stand out more because this motor is under a microscope right now but it's not like it's right even yet. Pilot Injection is still turned off on all the new motors with no word if it'll ever return, for example. GM and Dodge have it working, why can't ford get it? And all the rumors about this motor being replaced quickly with a completely new motor sure doesn't give the impression that ford even thinks much of it.

But when that is all you do, you get a label. If someone comes on and says something about wanting info, jeb and tn mac, can be counted on to do the doom and gloom about the 6.0. It doesn't end with here is my experience, but continue on about how bad Ford is treating you. Ford is going to buy back or replace your truck and you still whine.

Jeb....this is why tn mac is viewed as a belly acher and whiner....he is certainly qualified to complain about his truck, but now he is complaining about "all" of them, including mine, which I am very happy with!
