Leaking rear window

99 F150 SC 4x4 5.4L

Sliding rear window leaks sometimes during/after a rain and going through the automatic car wash. Read many posts about changing the gasket. Could a person just run a bead of caulk above the window and solve the problem? Has anyone ever done this. I would think this would be cheaper and quicker solution to the problem.

I'm sure that would work but I do wonder if it could be done well enough to look good?

Tried that on my before going thru with the real fix. Worked for a little bit and looked like crap.

i took the light assembly out (two screws) and caulked inside the light area really well and it fixed my leak (it was pretty bad)
