These are resistors that go into the coolant temp sensor wire that fools the computer into thinking that the engine is running cooler than it is, so that the computer will richen up the fuel mixture. You may gain a little power, but you will lose mileage and it is harder on the cat converters.
A real chip or Programmer is the right way to add power.
Does it go on the ECT or on the MAF's temperature sensor? I always heard that it fooled the computer into thinking the air is cooler and denser so that it's adds more fuel. Either way, I wouldn't install it on my truck.
So it does go on the IAT on diesel engines and MAF on a gas engine. (Since there isn't an IAT on my '03 5.4L, the Air Temp sensor is integrated on the MAF)
