when i bought my 1987 f150 1/2 ton was told it was a 302 has c6 auto tran the thing is it takes 6and a 1/2 qts of oil to fill it??? my other trucks are 5.0 chevy and gmc and they take exactly 5 qts on the dot...does a 351 oil pan hold more anyone ever here of this and where are the numbers at for ford engine id??? thanks all

I just changed the oil in my 302. With the filter it took 6 qts to reach just above the "add" line. Which would be 6-1/2 qts.
Could have sworn it didn't need that much...
As for engine ID numbers, I think they are stamped by the starter. You'll have to decode it (can't help with that).
It's fuel injected? If so there is an easy way to tell the difference between 302 and 351. Egr valve has a tube running up to it from the lower intake on 302's. On 351's the tube connects to the exhaust pipe. There are other differences, but that's the only one I'm certain of.

there is always an easy way to tell the differnce between 302, and 351w, measure the width of the intake manifold 9in=302, 11in=351
