Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject. My first real truck is a 79 F150, therefore you can see I need all the help I can get with newer technology..LOL..
I just got a 96 F 150 with a 302 Auto. and am wondering if there is a chip or something to increase engine performance in any way? What would work the best if more than one. Any suggestions appreciated...
Chips take 15-45 minutes and require you to remove the computer box to install them. Tuners are extremely easy, you just plug them into the diagnostic port and follow the on-screen instructions.
can't use both. the chip overrides any info on the pcm. the tuner is used to flash the pcm with the new info, using the chip would override the tuning.
on the 96 I dont think you have to remove the computer, you can put it in with out doing that..
its under the kick panel on drivers side by the e-brake. never took mine out but some disassembly is required, its tight under there. get the tuner and save the hassle.
I appreciate the location I was wondering where it was. I looked at your truck in your gallery and wow it is very nice. I noticed you had alot of bolt on Mods and I was wondering wich one gave you the most noticeable power increase. I was also wondering if you noticed much power difference after you put in the chip???
