Which one do ya'll like better the original 70's version with the 73 Mustang, or the newer one with the Shelby. Im kinda partial to the older one b/c I own a 71 mustang and I like the 40 min chase scene better than shorter newer one. Also I like to see all those old cars in the movie. I have to give credit to Nicholas Cage for being a good actor, I dont think any one else would have fit better in that movie. The old movie though had very few actors and everything you saw really happened without stunt doubles. I just wished they wouldnt have destroyed Elenor like they did Even though I thought doing all of that "body work" to the Shelby hurt it more than helped it, then again I guess thats what people now a days like, "body kits." Any ways what do all of you think?
My vote is for the new one. I liked the newer car, that 73 version of the mustang doesn't look that nice to me. I like the older versions better. I didn't care for the poor jump on the bridge from the new one...too fake. They also just fast forwarded the film in the top speed part when he was trying to get away from the helicopter, instead of having the car actually going 150-160. Also, the tach showed like 7-7500 rpms and then he hit the nitrous. The engine was probably really running about 4500-5k rpm.
I still enjoyed the rest of the movie more for the new one. The older version didn't have anything good except the chase scene. The newer verson had a much better storyline around the chase.
Elanore in the movie was not "real" it was a kit car all fiberglass and not a collectors vehicle.....it would be like burning down a rain forrest to make a movie, while they could prollay afford to buy the said forrest the reprocussions of burning it down would kill them in the box office.....plus like the car its irreplacable.....i know that i would cut off the finger of their choice for the title to that car
I have to vote for the original. I saw it the day it was released ( I was 15 years old ) and I would say it is the cause of my gear head nature.
The list of gearhead movies of the time is awsome ( well they where great back then )

American Graffetti (sp)
Two Lane Blacktop

I gotta say that the older one was better, Then again I saw the original first. As far as older movies go I have to say that Halicky's are some of the best. I kinda found the remake to be a bit boring or stupid? Whichever you prefer. I dunno just didn't seem right to me. People who like the remake should definitly go have a look at the Original.
Gone in 60 seconds
The Junkman
Gone In 60 Seconds 2/Deadlineauto theft
wow on the site they have a pic of nick cage and angelina jolie sitting on Eleanor. That is one secksi car. I saw 2 of them at the dallas autorama. THey look even better in person.
I had to vote for the original..I have them both on DVD, there is just something about knowing everything on the original is REAL, no stunt doubles,no body kits... Lets see Nick hit that telephone pole and continue on
