I have a 2003 Ranger Regular cab. I have already replaced the rear speakers behind the seats my self with the 6x8 3way Pioneers. Now I wish to replace the door speakers which are the same size according to my manual. Is it possible to put 6x9 in it? If so could someplace like bestbuy or Circuit City install it? It would be great to hear your opinions on which ones to get and where to buy from that would do the installation(I am a newbie and I don't have confidence to do it myself.) I was also wondering if I would hear more of difference with new speakers or a new reciever. Thanks for your help.

you can put in 6x9's you will most likely have to trim it though. either one of those places you described could probably do it, if not a quality car stereo shop can. if I were you I would just check out the 6x8's that Crutchfield has. they have an EZ fit system, just go to there website and they will recommend speakers that are EZ fit for your application. they also come with the a wiring harness which makes the install reall easy. I ordered all my speakers for my f-350 and it was really easy to install. the door panels aren't that hard to remove, just a few screws and pull off slowly. Mind you I was a complete newby and was very easy. Crutchfield gives you good directions too on the install. save you some money if you do it yourself.
The only problem I can think of having is with the manual windows, I read somewhere that there is a tool you can get to help get the cranks off, thanks for your help with the speakers.
Any audible difference will be practically nonexistant between a 6x8 and a 6x9 of equal quality in every other way. And, for sure, any benefit wouldn't be worth the trouble of cutting anything. If you are going to the extent to cut for speaker fitment, make it for some good reason that will be beneficial. Like for a nice component set or some such thing. Just my opinion.
You can get the window crank tool at Pep Boys or your local auto parts store for about $10. Get some of those horseshoe clips too, cuz you'll probably lose 'em.
