99 Explorer 4.0 SOHC starting problem
Also, a few times the motor started with a low rpm idle that was very rough. Then, after turning the key off and cranking again (and sometimes again) it will start up and run fine.
Any suggestions before I bring it in to my ford dealer and see how well the Extended Warranty that I recently purchased works?
thanks in advance.
1. sprk plugs... swap some Bosh platinums in there.
2. Trottle body... get some varnish safe trottle body cleaner and give it a couple sprays.
3. MAF... get some O2 sensor safe throttle body cleaner and give it a good spray down... just mist it though. Don't spray directly at the little sensors in it, they are very fragle.
4. Get a K/N drop in air filter (not a nesesity, but nice for hp and gas mileage)
5. Also check and clean the IAC on top of the manifold with varnish safe throttle body cleaner...
Hope some of this helps...
